| I’m a Mexican citizen living sooo happy in Puerto Rico, because (among other things) I found and joined the IPMS-PR chapter. My affair with plastic models started about 35 years ago when a Mom & Pop store opened in front of the elementary school I attended. Looking at those shinny P-51’s, camouflaged Me-262’s and so many other models hooked me up immediately, and I started to save every penny I had to buy models, paints and glue. Of course, all those models eventually finished in the trash after my little brother tried to make them fly!! As I got older the modeling stuff was conveniently put aside for a few years. I resume building model planes (my main interest) after my first son was born in 1992. Since then I have spent most of the spare time at home with my wife and him. Around the same time a friend of mine introduced me to one of the top modelers in Mexico. So, I met up with this guy and learned from him so many things that he also encouraged me to participate in local contests as well as IPMS Mexico annual convention. That is when I decided to focus basically on World War II planes, either Allies or Luftwaffe some Japanese and British ones too. In addition, my interest expanded later on to post World War II aircraft to soviet jets such as MiG’s and Sukhoi’s and some US Air Force. I’ve built some other things such as Armor and Military figures but this happens once in a while. As you take a look to the area below you will find some of the (I guess) best pieces I’ve done in the last couple of years. Some of these items were built using tips from my fellows IPMS-PR modelers have given me. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did when I built them up. Francisco |
